Farmer Brown has Five Red Apples Hanging on a Tree

Farmer Brown had Five Red Apples

Tune : 10 green bottles hanging on a wall

Farmer Brown had Five Red Apples

Farmer Brown has five red apples hanging on a tree,

Farmer Brown has five red apples hanging on a tree,

He picked one apple and ate it hungrily,

Now there are four red apples hanging on the tree.

Farmer Brown has four red apples hanging on a tree,

Farmer Brown has four red apples hanging on a tree,

He picked one apple and ate it hungrily,

Now there are three red apples hanging on the tree.

Farmer Brown has three red apples hanging on a tree,

Farmer Brown has three red apples hanging on a tree,

He picked one apple and ate it hungrily,

Now there are two red apples hanging on the tree.

Farmer Brown has two red apples hanging on a tree,

Farmer Brown has two red apples hanging on a tree,

He picked one apple and ate it hungrily,

Now there is one red apples hanging on the tree.

Farmer Brown has one red apple hanging on a tree,

Farmer Brown has one red apple hanging on a tree,

He picked that apple and it hungrily,

Leaving no red apples hanging on the tree.

Farmer Brown had five Green Apples

Repeat for Green Apples…

Eggs for Breakfast Felt Set

Eggs for Breakfast

This felt set is so easy to make, that you don’t even need a pattern. It’s a great conversation starter, leading to discussion about what everyone has had for their breakfast and how they like their eggs cooked.

One morning I woke up early before anyone else was awake and decided to make eggs for breakfast.

So I picked up an egg and sang,

“Give it a whack, hear it crack”.

One egg sizzling in my frying pan.

Here comes big sister, rubbing her eyes.

She likes her eggs with thick cut fries.

So I picked up an egg and sang,

“Give it a whack, hear it crack”.

Two eggs sizzling in my frying pan.

Here comes dad nodding his head.

He likes his on toasted bread.

So I picked up an egg and sang,

“Give it a whack, hear it crack”.

Three eggs sizzling in my frying pan.

Here comes mum, smiling at me.

She likes her eggs with hot strong tea.

So I picked up an egg and sang,

“Give it a whack, hear it crack”.

Four eggs sizzling in my frying pan.

We’re all here, the eggs are cooked.

Time to eat and thank the chooks.

No eggs sizzling in my frying pan.

Five Little Birds

Five Little Birds

This felt set can be used explore counting and colours.

There was one little bird in the one little tree
“He was  so alone and didn’t want to be,
so he flew far away, over the sea
and brought back a friend to live in the tree.

Now there are two little birds in the one little tree
“They were so alone and didn’t want to be,”
so they flew far away over the sea
And brought back a friend to live in the tree.

Now there are three little birds…

Now there are four little birds…

Now there are five little birds in the one little tree
“They were not alone anymore, they were a family,”

This song can easily be changed to focus on colours by changing the last line of each verse.

There was one little bird in the one little tree
“He was  so alone and didn’t want to be,
so he flew far away, over the sea
and brought back a red bird to live in the tree.
