Today I have a Birthday Felt Board Set

This is super simple felt cake for celebrating birthdays.

Have lots of fun counting the removable candles.

The cake including the cake stand is 30cm tall (about 12 inches) and 26cm wide (10.25 inches).

Today I have a birthday

I am five years old you see

( hold up 5 fingers )

And here I have a birthday cake

Which you may share with me

(put the cake on the felt board)

First we count the candles

Count them every one

1,2,3,4,5

( count the candles as you put them on the cake)

The counting is now done

Lets blow out the candles

Out each flame will go

As one by one we blow

(pretend to blow out the candles as you take them off the felt board)

Five Little Neko Cats – Guest Post from Stephanie Stokes

I am so pleased to host a felt set created by Stephanie Stokes – Director at StoryTime Japan, from Pasadena, California who shared this Asian Themed Five Japanese Neko Cats. Stephanie also includes printable files so you can make your own  Neko Cats and a Five-Little-Neko-Cats-RHYME.

Five Little Neko Cats
5 little Neko cats playing near the door,
one ran inside and that left 4.
4 little Neko cats underneath a tree,
one heard a dog bark and that left 3.
3 little Neko cats wondering what to do,
one saw a little bird and that left 2.
2 little Neko cats sitting in the sun,
one ran to catch his tail and that left 1.
1 little Neko cat looking for some fun,
he saw a butterfly and then there ….. were none!
The maneki-neko (Japanese: 招き猫 ?
, literally “beckoning cat”) is a common
Japanese figurine (lucky charm, talisman) which is often believed to bring good
luck to the owner. In modern times, they are usually made of ceramic or plastic.

Five Scoops of Ice Cream

Five scoops of ice cream with sprinkles on top
I licked one scoop, and it went plop!

Four scoops of ice cream with sprinkles on top
I licked one scoop, and it went plop!

Three scoops of ice cream with sprinkles on top
I licked one scoop, and it went plop!

Two scoops of ice cream with sprinkles on top
I licked one scoop, and it went plop!

One scoop of ice cream with sprinkles on top
I licked one scoop, and it went plop!

No scoops of ice cream on my cone.
I’m still hungry, so I’m going home

These scoops are enormous – almost hand sized.

I found this rhyme on the King County Library System website

Five Little Easter Eggs with a free template

Five little Easter eggs,
lovely colours wore,
Mother ate the pink one,
Then there were four.

Four little Easter eggs,
two and two, you see,
Daddy ate the green one,
Then there were three.

Three little Easter eggs,
before I knew,
Sister ate the purple one,
Then there were two.

Two little Easter eggs,
oh, what fun!
Brother ate the yellow one,
Then there was one.

One little Easter egg,
See me run!
I ate the last one,
And then there were none.

This is such an easy felt set to make. Decorate the eggs with Ric Rac as I have done or use your imagination and try sequins and ribbon.

I’ve provided a template for the egg pattern here.
