Five Pink Flamingos Felt Set

Five Pink Flamingos

I love flamingos, With their long sticky legs and the way they seem to prance and dance in formation. I couldn’t find a rhyme so I was forced to create one myself.

Tune: Five Little Speckled Frogs

Song Lyrics  by Kate McKnight

Five Pink Flamingos

Long legs and dancing toes

Looking for lots of yummy food

Scoop, Scoop

One ate lots of little shrimps

Till its feather sturned very pink

Now there are four pink flamingos

1,2,3,4

Four Pink Flamingos …

Three Pink Flamingos …

Two Pink Flamingos …

One Pink Flamingos …

Five Pink Flamingos Felt Board Magic

Farmer Brown has Five Red Apples Hanging on a Tree

Farmer Brown had Five Red Apples

Tune : 10 green bottles hanging on a wall

Farmer Brown had Five Red Apples

Farmer Brown has five red apples hanging on a tree,

Farmer Brown has five red apples hanging on a tree,

He picked one apple and ate it hungrily,

Now there are four red apples hanging on the tree.

Farmer Brown has four red apples hanging on a tree,

Farmer Brown has four red apples hanging on a tree,

He picked one apple and ate it hungrily,

Now there are three red apples hanging on the tree.

Farmer Brown has three red apples hanging on a tree,

Farmer Brown has three red apples hanging on a tree,

He picked one apple and ate it hungrily,

Now there are two red apples hanging on the tree.

Farmer Brown has two red apples hanging on a tree,

Farmer Brown has two red apples hanging on a tree,

He picked one apple and ate it hungrily,

Now there is one red apples hanging on the tree.

Farmer Brown has one red apple hanging on a tree,

Farmer Brown has one red apple hanging on a tree,

He picked that apple and it hungrily,

Leaving no red apples hanging on the tree.

Farmer Brown had five Green Apples

Repeat for Green Apples…

Eggs for Breakfast Felt Set

Eggs for Breakfast

This felt set is so easy to make, that you don’t even need a pattern. It’s a great conversation starter, leading to discussion about what everyone has had for their breakfast and how they like their eggs cooked.

One morning I woke up early before anyone else was awake and decided to make eggs for breakfast.

So I picked up an egg and sang,

“Give it a whack, hear it crack”.

One egg sizzling in my frying pan.

Here comes big sister, rubbing her eyes.

She likes her eggs with thick cut fries.

So I picked up an egg and sang,

“Give it a whack, hear it crack”.

Two eggs sizzling in my frying pan.

Here comes dad nodding his head.

He likes his on toasted bread.

So I picked up an egg and sang,

“Give it a whack, hear it crack”.

Three eggs sizzling in my frying pan.

Here comes mum, smiling at me.

She likes her eggs with hot strong tea.

So I picked up an egg and sang,

“Give it a whack, hear it crack”.

Four eggs sizzling in my frying pan.

We’re all here, the eggs are cooked.

Time to eat and thank the chooks.

No eggs sizzling in my frying pan.

Five Little Birds

Five Little Birds

This felt set can be used explore counting and colours.

There was one little bird in the one little tree
“He was  so alone and didn’t want to be,
so he flew far away, over the sea
and brought back a friend to live in the tree.

Now there are two little birds in the one little tree
“They were so alone and didn’t want to be,”
so they flew far away over the sea
And brought back a friend to live in the tree.

Now there are three little birds…

Now there are four little birds…

Now there are five little birds in the one little tree
“They were not alone anymore, they were a family,”

This song can easily be changed to focus on colours by changing the last line of each verse.

There was one little bird in the one little tree
“He was  so alone and didn’t want to be,
so he flew far away, over the sea
and brought back a red bird to live in the tree.

I’ll unwrap the purple one and now there are two.

Two birthday presents left until I’m done,

Kitty Cat, Kitty Cat Party Hat Hide and Seek Game

This is a fun interactive game which encourages vocabulary development, colour and pattern recognition and turn taking. Depending on the concepts you are trying to develop you can make the party hats using ether plain coloured fabric or patterned.

The cat is 9cm tall (3.5 inches)

First, talk about the party hats, highlighting colours and patterns and any distinguishing features.

Then, hide the cat underneath one of the party hats.

Then chant with the children:

Kitty Cat, Kitty Cat

Playing hide and seek.

Are you under the [colour or pattern] party hat?

Let’s take a peek.

Children take turns guessing which party hat the cat is hiding under by identifying a party hat by colour or pattern and removing it to search underneath for the cat.

For example:

Are you under the pink party hat?

OR

Are you under the stripy party hat?
