Five Little Neeko Cats

I am so pleased to host a felt set created by Stephanie Stokes – Director at StoryTime Japan, from Pasadena, California who shared this Asian Themed Five Japanese Neko Cats. Stephanie also includes printable files so you can make your own  Neko Cats and a Five-Little-Neko-Cats-RHYME.

Five Little Neko Cats
5 little Neko cats playing near the door,
one ran inside and that left 4.
4 little Neko cats underneath a tree,
one heard a dog bark and that left 3.
3 little Neko cats wondering what to do,
one saw a little bird and that left 2.
2 little Neko cats sitting in the sun,
one ran to catch his tail and that left 1.
1 little Neko cat looking for some fun,
he saw a butterfly and then there ….. were none!
The maneki-neko (Japanese: 招き猫 ?
, literally “beckoning cat”) is a common
Japanese figurine (lucky charm, talisman) which is often believed to bring good
luck to the owner. In modern times, they are usually made of ceramic or plastic.
