Dog's Colourful Day

This is Dog.
(place Dog on the flannel board)
Dog is white with one black spot on his left ear.
(Point to the white body and the black spot)
At breakfast time, Dog sat under the table when
SPLAT! A drip of red jam lands his back.
(place red spot on Dog’s back)
Now Dog has two spots. 1, 2.
(Point to the spots as you count them)
After breakfast, Dog runs outside,
passing much too close to a man who is painting the front door.
SPLISH! A bit of blue paint splashes onto Dog’s tail.
(Place blue spot on Dog’s tail)
Now Dog has three spots. 1,2,3.
(Point to the spots as you count them)
Next, Dog runs to the park and rolls on the grass when SQUASH!
The grass makes a green stain on his white fur.
(Place green spot on Dog’s side)
Now Dog has four spots. 1,2,3,4.
(Point to the spots as you count them)
At the park, Dog follows a boy who is eating chocolate.
SQUISH! The boy gives Dog a pat with chocolaty fingers
leaving a brown spot on Dog.
(Place brown spot on Dog)
Now Dog has five spots. 1,2,3,4,5.
(Point to the spots as you count them)
A bee buzzes up to see what is going on.
SWISH! The bee drops yellow pollen as it flies by. 
(Place yellow spot on Dog)
Now Dog has six spots. 1,2,3,4,5,6
(Point to the spots as you count them)
Dog trots on through the park past a girl with an ice cream.
When, SPLOSH! pink ice cream drips on his right ear.
(Place pink spot on Dog)
Now Dog has seven spots. 1,2,3,4,5,6,7.
(Point to the spots as you count them)
Now it’s time to go home.
Dog runs up the street. SPLASH!
A bouncing ball splatters Dog with grey mud .
(Place grey spot on Dog)
Now Dog has eight spots. 1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8.
(Point to the spots as you count them)
In front of the gate Dog steps on an carton of orange juice.
And SPLURT! Dog has an orange spot onto his leg.
(Place orange spot on Dog) 
Now Dog has nine spots. 1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9.
(Point to the spots as you count them)
Dog races back inside the house and
bumps right into Vicky who is drawing a picture with markers.
Silly Dog! Vicky’s marker leaves a purple smudge on Dog’s head.
(Place purple spot on Dog’s head)
Now Dog has ten spots. 1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9,10.
 
Vicky says
“You need a bath, Dog!”
(Pretend to pour soap onto Dog and “wash him”
as you do rub all of the spots off.
When Vicky has finished washing him,
Dog has just one black spot on his ear again.
